Creating a Budget for your time

If you have been reading posts from this blog for very long, you know that I have written many times about the importance of having a written cash flow plan.  A lot of feedback as to why they do not do one, however, is because it is time-consuming and they can not fit it into their busy schedule.  Although not directly related to finances, to get stuff accomplished with your busy schedule, have you ever thought about sitting down and doing a time budget?

Planning each day, week, or month ahead of time allows you to budget time to take care of important financial matters such as creating a written cash flow plan and discussing it with your spouse.  It also allows you to focus for short periods of time on a specific topic.  Remarkably you will get more accomplished because you will become very efficient with your time.  Your free time will also increase because you will not be wasting your time watching more re-runs on the TV or goofing around on the Internet.

However, with that being said, this is something I can definitely work more on.  When I do budget my time, the benefits are clearly seen.  It sounds weird but, when something is actually written down on paper instead of in your head, you are more likely to accomplish your goals and become more productive.  The benefits could help you not only financially, but relationally as well as you have more time to be with friends and family.  So, if you never have enough time because you are always busy, try budgeting your time and see how it goes!

What are some tricks that you use to manage your time better?
