Friday Financial Tidbit-Keep planning during the summer

One of the things that I love most about summer is all the different things you do during this time that you don’t do the rest of the year.  Spending time outside, daylight until 9 pm, having your kids around more, travelling either for vacation or to visit family are just a few of them.  However, summer can be so busy and fun that we forget to plan ahead financially.

While on vacation it is easy to want to take a vacation from other areas of your life.  But even if you are on vacation your bills are not!  Your credit card, car payment, mortgage, and car insurance don’t care if you are at home or out on the beach somewhere, they are still due.  In addition your plan of getting out of debt and regaining control of your finances can suffer if you take the summer off.

When we take a vacation from planning, we lose ground and momentum and we find ourselves falling back into bad financial habits. We turn back to credit cards, or we lose traction on the debt snowball and just make the minimum payments.

So stay focused this summer!  Keep working your plan and don’t wait until the fall to find out how you did during the summer.

What are some tips that you use to stay focused and keep planning during the summer?
