JW’s Financial Coaching Podcast-Wake Up: Breaking Free from Advertising Influences with guest Jenny McCutcheon

Listen to this Episode

Highlights of today’s show:

  • “Author Month” on the podcast in the month of June
  • Jenny shares the difference between marketing and advertising
  • How to protect our children from marketers
  • The future of online marketing
  • The process of writing an eBook

Jenny McCutcheon from ExConsumer.com joins me on the show to discuss her book Wake Up: Breaking Free from Advertising Influences as part of “Author month” on the podcast. Jenny got interested in marketing while earning her Bachelor of Science in eMarketing. Instead of using her knowledge to help businesses rope consumers into buying things they did not really need, she instead decided to write this book to warn consumers about how they are being marketed to. Some of the topics we discuss on the show are the impact of marketing on children, the sophistication of online marketing, and where the future of marketing is going.

In addition, I also ask Jenny what motivated her to sit down and write the book. What were some of the easy parts, some of the hard parts and would she do it again? You can find out more about Jenny on her blog, Twitter, and Facebook pages. You can also hear how her family got out of debt by listening to their story on the Debt Free Living Podcast.
